Retreats & Yoga

Yoga has come to Myres!

The castle and its grounds really do make one of the most special places to come for a retreat.

The tranquil, cozy castle, is a mixture of ancient history and modern comfort. Guests can enjoy luxurious surroundings, beautiful objects, peaceful gardens,  woodland yoga walks, and even a labyrinth.

The charming fully equipped yoga studio is in the garden, a wood-burning stove and oak floors encouraging a special kind of practice. We have different yoga teachers coming for retreats throughout the year.

There is a fully equipped yoga studio within the cozy and tranquil Applestore. Helping to create the perfect place for yoga and meditation, the studio features beautiful oak floors, distressed mirrors, bolsters, mats, and blankets.

Myres is easy to get to but feels away from it all. 45 mins North of Edinburgh it has a main lone station 4 miles away.

Gardens

The gardens are some of the finest in Fife. Myres is set in 44 acres, there is a formal Vatican styled garden, full of the heady scents of roses, a yoga woodland walk (wellies supplied), a labyrinth and ancient trees. We have a very productive organic vegetable garden that provides the freshest of ingredients for our kitchen.

Time spent in the garden feels so restorative and there are plenty of places for quiet meditation. We have the new contemplation corner, with a wonderful cedar hot tub and outdoor shower to ease away any aches and pains.

Our Rooms

Myres is super comfortable. There are wood-burning stoves to curl up in front of with a book, a Victorian Kitchen with AN Aga for the guests use to make herbal teas and raid the healthy biscuit box.

All of the bedrooms are en-suite, often with quirky baths and loos. The amazing biomass boiler heats our water so there is always lashings of it for a deep soak in a bath full of Himalayan salts or bubbles. The walls are thick and our guests will often say they have not slept this well for decades.

Food & Environment

We love food and have a special food philosophy at Myres. We believe it should always be delicious, beautiful and make you and your gut feel good. As much as possible it is sourced from the garden, Matthew our gardener who has worked at Myres for 30 years works wonders with the soil and space.

We also try and source as much as possible from local producers, we are part of the Fife group. Food on a retreat is of the utmost importance, it can help guests learn about different foods and make some beneficial changes in their diets. The menus have been carefully planned to complement the type and timings of the yoga. The gut will be looked after and the taste buds indulged.

The castle is a mixture of ancient and new. We are very proud of our bio mass boiler and our mini solar farm, making sure that we are always conscious of our environmental impact.
